GOLF COAST TO COAST

FIRST TEE PARTICIPANTS SELECTED TO PLAY IN
WALMART FIRST TEE OPEN AT PEBBLE BEACH

Though golf with the pros at Pebble Beach was the goal for many, golf was certainly not how they got to participate in the Walmart First Tee Open Participant Selection Process at the Wentworth By The Sea Country Club last week or would earn their way to Pebble Beach.   Thirty-six young women, First Tee participants, ages 14-18 from around the country came to Rye, NH last week based mostly on the strength of the Life Skills and Core Values learned during their participation in The First Tee.  Eighteen were rewarded with a trip to California to play in the Walmart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, a Champion’s Tour event, including the likes of Tom Watson, Fuzzy Zoeller, and NH’s own Kirk Hanefeld.

  Annual Benefit Golf Tournament
Our 2008 Annual Benefit Golf Tournament was a great success!  It was held Monday, May 19th on a windy and cool day at The Wentworth By The Sea Country Club in Rye, NH.  Thanks to all those teams who braved the elements to support the program!  The event raised over $25,000. Thanks as always to our sponsors!

  New Hampshire School Program
During the winter months The First Tee of New Hampshire is engaged with schools throughout the state implementing our School Program. The program currently includes over 40 Physical Education Instructors and numerous NH golf professionals. The program reaches more than 30 schools, including all 14 Manchester Elementary Schools and over 11,000 NH youth by June of 2008. Each year the program grows to new areas of the state. There is currently a list of schools awaiting training during the fall of 2008.
  Provident Bank Grant
The First Tee of New Hampshire was awarded a $3,000 grant from The Provident Bank through the Provident Community Foundation for their school adoption program. The Portsmouth Little Harbour School, one of 30 elementary schools participating in The First Tee program this year, will launch their program teaching golf skills along with Core Values and Life Skills. Around the state the program will reach a total of 10,000 kids in the coming year.

The First Tee of New Hampshire is happy to announce a new partnership with TigerScorecard of Northampton, MA.
